Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand are teaming up again, and they’ve also brought Deepika Padukone back with them. As per reports, Deepika will join the cast of King, an upcoming action thriller. But this time, she’s not just playing SRK’s love interest. She will play Suhana Khan’s mother and also SRK’s ex-lover. It seems like the plot just got a lot more interesting.
Deepika Padukone To Play Crucial Role In King
A Peeping Moon report reveals the info and says that Deepika may not have a full-length role, but her part is crucial to the story. Her character drives the main conflict. Both Shah Rukh and Siddharth believed only Deepika could pull it off. She agreed to the role without a second thought.
This film marks Deepika and SRK’s third straight collaboration after Pathaan and Jawan. It’s also their sixth film together overall. Fans love their on-screen chemistry, and they might reunite again soon in Pathaan 2, expected next year.
Is Shah Rukh Khan Starrer A Remake?
King is not a remake, but the story takes inspiration from films like Bichhoo and Léon: The Professional. SRK reportedly plays a professional assassin. His character joins forces with Suhana’s character after a tragedy changes her life. Together, they go on a revenge-driven journey packed with action and emotion.
The script has changed a lot since the film first started. Sujoy Ghosh was the original director, but Siddharth Anand took over. After that, the film turned into a classic SRK entertainer with action, romance, and big drama – everything Siddharth does best.
Earlier, the team considered casting Saif Ali Khan and Tabu as Suhana’s parents, but they dropped that plan. Now, Deepika brings both star power and emotional depth to the story.
As confirmed earlier, Abhishek Bachchan will play the villain, and Abhay Verma from Munjya will also appear in a key role.
King is now in pre-production and will start filming next month in Mumbai. The makers are targeting a late 2026 theatrical release. Are you excited?
