Kriti Sanon is currently one of Bollywood’s well-known actresses. In the following year, she has an interesting slate of films. But, like many other actors, she has had a few films that did not perform well at the box office. Raabta, in which she co-starred with the late Sushant Singh Rajput, was one such film. Kriti Sanon spoke in an interview with Film Companion about the amusing evening she and her co-star in the film SSR spent with their director Dinesh Vijan ruminating about the film’s terrible debut.
Kriti Sanon revealed in the interview that when Raabta’s box office figures and reviews were low, Sushant Singh Rajput, Dinesh Vijan, and herself agreed to get together over a bottle of wine to talk about what went wrong. Kriti also revealed that when filming Raabta, she informed SSR and Dinesh about the film’s flashbacks not being to the point or having an impact. But, those two would just say ‘isko kuch nahi pata’. The actress said, “You have to accept what has happened. You’re making films for the audience, you can’t say unko samajh nahi aayi (they didn’t understand). Agar unko samajh nahi aayi tumhari galti hai (It’s your fault if they didn’t understand). You can’t say, ‘We were ahead of our time’. No, you’re making films for that time, you have to connect to the audience. Where did you fail? You have to figure that out.”
Kriti said, “It was a fantastic night, and they were all lamenting about the film’s failure.” Dinesh had invited them out for drinks, and it was while they were seated together that the director expressed his concerns about the flashback sections. Kriti joked that she immediately replied, ‘I told you so!’
Kriti Sanon also talked about how she learned to take notes on her scripts from Sushant Singh Rajput, who passed away.
