Just weeks after its gritty first-look posters put it firmly on the radar, Laikey Laikaa has run into a classic young-film headache that can throw even the best-laid schedules into chaos: the movie has gone in for extensive reshoots, pushing up costs and tightening the runway ahead of its planned Summer 2026 release.
The romantic-action thriller, which pairs Munjya breakout Abhay Verma with Rasha Thadani, has been positioned as a dark love story where romance and violence sit uncomfortably close. That edge was visible right from the marketing, with the initial reveal leaning heavily into blood-smeared, graffiti-styled visuals.
The Reshoot Update
A source close to production confirmed a 20-day reshoot for Laikey Laikaa which caused budget jump from Rs 23 crore to Rs 30 crore. Reshoot done for creative reasons. This social drama of dark theme was set for early 2026 release but now might hit the screens later this year.
The film is actively in production and has been generating steady official visibility through announcements and poster drops. Phantom Studios unveiled the first-look poster on January 13, 2026 with the caption “Earn Love!”, and the subsequent first-look posters shared on January 15, 2026 carried the tagline “Love. Pain. Trust.”
The film’s team has also shared an official positioning line that hints at the relationship dynamic at the heart of the story: “She’s the chaos. He’s the calm. Or is it the other way around?”
What We Know About Laikey Laikaa So Far
Laikey Laikaa is written and directed by Saurabh Gupta, and is backed by Phantom Studios, with N2O Films also attached. Bhavna Datta Talvar and Raghav Gupta are credited as producers on the project.
