The much awaited Love And War starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal has been postponed from its original Eid 2026 release date. The film will now hit theaters in the second half of 2026, most likely post June. This development comes as a relief to trade analysts who felt that two big budget Pan Indian films clashing on the same date would hurt both projects at the box office.
Why Did Love And War Get Postponed
According to reliable sources from the industry, Love And War is running significantly behind its shooting schedule. The film still has approximately 75 days of shooting remaining, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali has requested his lead actors to allot bulk dates until Summer 2026 to complete the film. The delay is reportedly around 40 days, which makes it impossible for the team to meet the Eid 2026 deadline.
Bhansali is known for his perfectionism and elaborate filmmaking style. His previous films like Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, and Gangubai Kathiawadi have all taken extensive time in production. It seems Love And War is following the same pattern, as the director wants to ensure every frame meets his exacting standards.
Toxic Stays Put On Eid 2026
While Love And War has moved out, Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown Ups remains firmly locked for its March 2026 release, which coincides with the Eid 2026 period. Earlier in the day, Yash and the producers of Toxic had reconfirmed that their film would release as scheduled. The makers are reportedly super confident about their product and the film is on track with its production schedule.
Interestingly, Toxic is one of those rare Indian films to be shot in Kannada and English languages. The film promises to be a visual spectacle and is being mounted on a massive scale. With the Eid 2026 window now all to itself, Toxic is expected to have a clear run at the box office.
The Ramayana Connection
The postponement also averts an interesting off screen rivalry between Ranbir Kapoor and Yash. Both actors are set to face off on screen in the upcoming epic Ramayana, where reportedly they will be playing contrasting roles.
