Luv Ranjan is reportedly launching his brother-in-law, Kunal Vaid, into Bollywood with an upcoming rom-com. The film is being co-produced by director Shashank Khaitan and is set to be a buddy comedy, though neither Ranjan nor Khaitan will direct. That role will go to Anuj Saini, who has previously worked as an assistant director on films like Dhadak and Govinda Naam Mera.
This Film Could Be Similar To Pyaar Ka Punchnana Franchise By Luv Ranjan
The untitled film is said to resemble Ranjan’s popular Pyaar Ka Punchnama franchise, blending humour with a fresh take on friendship. The plot is rumoured to revolve around two boys and a girl reuniting at a school reunion.
Along with Kunal Vaid, two other newcomers will reportedly make their Bollywood debut. The film’s script was co-written by Saini and Jehan Handa, who previously worked on Emraan Hashmi’s Showtime.
Who Is Kunal Vaid?
Kunal Vaid (who is the brother of Ranjan’s wife, Alisha Vaid) has experience in theatre and will make his official Bollywood debut with this project.
Sources suggest that Kunal has already begun preparing for his role. The film is expected to go into production around March-April 2025, though the casting for the second male lead and the female lead is still underway.
Upcoming Projects By Luv Ranjan & Shashank Khaitan
This film will be part of Ranjan’s growing production slate under his banner, Luv Films. Other films in the pipeline include De De Pyaar De 2 with Ajay Devgn and a new action-adventure film with the actor, directed by Jagan Shakti.
Meanwhile, Shashank Khaitan is working on Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, and a Netflix series featuring Vir Das.
