This Diwali 2025, he is set to release Thamma, the next big film from his superhit Horror Comedy Universe, which recently gave us the blockbuster Stree 2.
But Thamma is not just another film. Reliable sources have confirmed that it has become the most expensive and ambitious movie in the entire Maddock Horror Comedy Universe.
A Massive Rs. 145 Crore Budget
Producer Dinesh Vijan is sparing no expense for Thamma. The film is being made on a huge scale, with top-level VFX companies from around the world working on it. According to sources, the final production budget of the film is around Rs. 125 crores.
On top of this, another Rs. 20 crores will be spent on print and publicity (P&A), which includes marketing and promotion. This brings the total cost of the film to a massive Rs. 145 crores, making it the biggest bet ever for the production house in this genre.
Even Bigger Than Stree 2
To give you an idea of the scale, Thamma‘s budget has surpassed the recent blockbuster Stree 2. The total cost for Stree 2 was around Rs. 125 crores (including P&A). Thamma is costing about Rs. 20 crores more than that.
Dinesh Vijan is placing a huge bet on the fresh pairing of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna to bring in the audiences. He truly believes in the magic of the film’s content and is confident that this investment will pay off, especially on the big opening day.
A Confident Producer
This isn’t the first time Dinesh Vijan has taken such a big risk. He also backed Chhaava with Vicky Kaushal, a project many in the industry thought was a risky business decision. However, the film delivered, and Vicky proved to be a box office draw.
Vijan is now confident that Thamma and its lead actors will deliver again this Diwali. He has also given the film the powerful branding of his most successful universe, which adds to the buzz. The film is set to release on October 21, and there is already huge demand for it. Reports suggest that distributors have asked for 70 percent of all available shows across India.
