Madhur Bhandarkar is set to unveil a bold new project on ‘Wives of Bollywood’ which will expose the private struggles and scandals of Bollywood’s elite wives. Known for his powerful films like Page 3 and Chandni Bar, Bhandarkar’s latest work promises to go even deeper into the world of glitz and gossip.
Madhur Bhandarkar On His Next
During a recent chat with Bollywood Hungama, he opened up about the project and described it as ‘Page 3 on steroids’.
“It’s a strong subject and will give an inside view of the Bollywood wives, their emotional trials and tribulations, and the scandals in their lives,” Bhandarkar revealed.
While the cast isn’t finalised yet, he plans to feature ‘good actors’ with strong content, despite a smaller budget.
Bhandarkar has always tackled uncomfortable topics. Page 3, which turns 20 this year, shocked audiences by exposing the superficial world of Bollywood parties and the dilemmas faced by journalists. Bhandarkar’s upcoming film promises more of the same.
“My film is very hard-hitting. A lot of people would get uncomfortable,” he said, responding to comparisons with the Netflix series Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives.
The director has previously drawn attention with films like Fashion (2008) and Heroine (2012), both of which revealed the dark side of glamour. “Absolutely. This subject has been my favourite for the last two years and I wanted to make a film on it,” he added. He mentioned that he’s already written eleven drafts for the movie.
Filmmaker Reveals Page 3 Is Set To Re-release This Year
On top of his new project, Bhandarkar also confirmed that Page 3 will be re-released to mark its 20th anniversary. Fans will get the chance to revisit the film that changed the way Bollywood was viewed.
When asked about a potential retrospective of his work, Bhandarkar teased the idea and said, “The rights of all these films are with Sahara.”
Apart from this, the director had recently spoken about working on Fashion sequel. More updates on the same are awaited.
