Actress Nayanthara is all set to embrace divinity once again. This time, she leads Maha Shakthi, a grand pan-India film directed by Sundar C. Known as Mookuthi Amman 2 in Tamil, the film is backed by a massive Rs 100 crore budget.
The makers recently launched the project in Chennai with a star-studded event that created a huge buzz among fans.
Nayanthara Undergoes Special Fasting To Prepare For Her Role
Nayanthara is known for her commitment to roles and she is taking a spiritual approach for Maha Shakthi. Before starting the shoot, she is observing a special fasting ritual.
Producer Ishari Ganesh confirmed this at the film’s launch event, revealing that the actress did the same for the first Mookuthi Amman, which premiered directly on OTT and is now streaming on JioCinema.
Nayanthara expressed excitement about her role and said, “Playing this role is more than just a performance—it’s an emotion. Maha Shakthi carries a power beyond cinema, and with Sundar sir’s vision, we are bringing a story that will leave an impact on every audience member. I’m thrilled to be part of this grand journey.”
Sundar C Promises A Grand Spectacle
Sundar C (the filmmaker behind the hit Aranmanai series) is bringing his signature scale to this film. He believes Maha Shakthi will go beyond regional cinema and connect with audiences globally.
He shared, “I believe in making films that entertain, engage, and leave an impact. With Maha Shakthi, we are taking everything to the next level—bigger action, deeper-rooted storytelling, and visual grandeur like never before.”

Though the Tamil version is titled Mookuthi Amman 2, the makers clarify that Maha Shakthi is a standalone film and the beginning of a new franchise. The film is being planned as a major pan-India release with an extensive worldwide rollout.
Cast Of Nayanthara Starrer Maha Shakthi
The film stars Nayanthara in the divine role. Regina Cassandra and Yogi Babu join her, while veteran actress Urvashi plays a crucial character. The antagonist is played by Duniya Vijay and ensures a strong face-off. Garuda Ram and Ajay Ghosh are also part of the supporting cast.
