Two of the most iconic actresses of Indian cinema, Zeenat Aman and Shabana Azmi, are set to share the screen after four decades in Manish Malhotra’s second production, Bun Tikki. The film, written and directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, also stars Abhay Deol in a pivotal role.

Manish Malhotra, who is known for his fashion designing skills, announced the project on his Instagram account, where he posted a picture of the stellar trio and expressed his excitement and happiness. He wrote, “The Great Shabana Azmi and Zeenat Aman both I have been a huge fan of, from their movies to their songs to their clothes. They are so different from each other and both have memorable movies and cinema moments that we all love. It gives me so much happiness that they are coming together after decades for our second production being made by our passionate and intimate Stage 5 Production for a film called Bun Tikki, a sensitive film written and directed by Faraz Arif Ansari and starring with them is the Uber talented Abhay Deol. Zeenat Aman and Shabana Azmi have previously worked together in films like Ishk Ishk Ishk (1974) and Ashanti (1982), where they showcased their versatility and charisma. Bun Tikki will mark their comeback on the big screen after a long hiatus. The film is expected to be a heartwarming story of family and relationships, with a touch of humour and emotion. Abhay Deol, who is known for his unconventional choices and performances, will be seen in a new avatar in Bun Tikki.
Bun Tikki is Manish Malhotra‘s second venture into film production, after Train from Chhapraula, which is directed by Tisca Chopra and stars Radhika Apte, Divyenndu Sharma and Kusha Kapila. Manish Malhotra is also involved in the biopic of legendary actress Meena Kumari, which is reportedly being considered by Kriti Sanon for the lead role.
Bun Tikki is a joint production of Stage 5 Production and Jio Studios, and is slated to go on floors this month. The film’s release date and other details are yet to be announced.
