The much-awaited adult comedy Mastiii 4 is all set to hit theatres this Friday, November 21. Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, and Aftab Shivdasani are reuniting for the fourth installment of the popular franchise. Directed by Milap Zaveri, the film also stars Elnaaz Norouzi and Ruhii Singh in key roles. Ahead of its theatrical release, the Central Board of Film Certification has reviewed the film and granted it an Adult certificate after asking for several modifications.
According to reports, the CBFC requested the makers of Mastiii 4 to make changes to three lines of dialogue and replace one completely. Sources reveal that words like “behen” and “item” were asked to be replaced with alternate terms. Additionally, a brand name related to alcohol was changed to a fictional one to avoid any promotional concerns. The most interesting modification was the removal of a 9-second segment that featured top-angle animal humping visuals. A 30-second close-up shot of human faces was also reduced in length.
Final Runtime Of Mastiii 4
After all these modifications, the final runtime of Mastiii 4 has been locked at 144.17 minutes. This means the film is 2 hours, 24 minutes, and 17 seconds long. In total, around 39 seconds have been trimmed from the original version submitted to the censor board. The film has been given an A certificate, which means it is suitable only for adult audiences. This was expected given the nature of the franchise, which has always been targeted at mature viewers.
Aftab Shivdasani Defends The Film
In a recent interview, Aftab Shivdasani addressed the criticism that the Masti franchise has faced over the years. Many people have accused the films of objectifying women and promoting extramarital affairs. Aftab made his stance very clear on this topic. He said that since Masti 1, there have been claims about objectification and promoting infidelity. However, the basic concept of the film is simple. Three men try to have fun outside their marriages, but eventually learn their lesson from their wives.
Aftab emphasized that the films are not meant to preach or overly sensitize audiences. They are purely for entertainment. He pointed out that many serious films have dealt with the subject of affairs, but nobody questions those. Movies like Masti are made for laughter and should not be taken too seriously. He also mentioned that several indie films explore extramarital affairs, but when Masti does it, there is a huge uproar.
