Mere Husband Ki Biwi is gearing up for its big-screen release on February 21. Starring Arjun Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh, and Bhumi Pednekar, the film has grabbed attention with its quirky title, intriguing love triangle, and sizzling chemistry.
However, just days before its release, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has made some significant edits.
CBFC Makes Four Major Changes To Mere Husband Ki Biwi
The CBFC’s Examining Committee (EC) suggested four modifications before granting the film a UA 13+ certification. These changes include one visual alteration and three dialogue-related edits. The most striking change is the replacement of the term ‘Modi Ji’ with ‘The Government.’ Additionally, the word ‘Haryanvi’ has been changed to ‘Ek Gang.’
Another major edit involves a controversial visual of a ‘woman hand gesture’ which the board has asked to be replaced. Lastly, the CBFC directed the filmmakers to reduce the ‘sensual audio of a woman’ by 50%.
According to reports, this adjustment likely impacts a scene from the trailer where Rakul Preet Singh’s character moans while Arjun Kapoor’s character kisses her neck to make Bhumi Pednekar’s character jealous.
Arjun Kapoor Starrer Rated UA 13+ With THIS Runtime
Following these changes, Mere Husband Ki Biwi secured a UA 13+ rating. Other recent Bollywood films like Sky Force have received similar certifications, while Chhaava, Deva, and Loveyapa were rated UA 16+.
The censor certificate was issued to the makers on February 17 and confirmed the film’s final runtime at 143.44 minutes (2 hours, 23 minutes, and 44 seconds).
The film is produced by Jackky Bhagnani, who is married to lead actress Rakul Preet Singh. Interestingly, the release date coincides with their first wedding anniversary.
Directed by Mudassar Aziz, Mere Husband Ki Biwi also includes Shakti Kapoor, Dino Morea, and Harsh Gujral in key roles. The film is presented by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Deepshikha Deshmukh of Pooja Entertainment.
