Directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Vijay Kirgandur, Kantara (which refers to forest in Sanskrit) stars Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Pramod Shetty, Prakash Thuminad and Achyuth Kumar in leading roles. It has been released into five languages, namely Kannada, Hindu, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam.
The latest Kannada news is that the film has collected Rs 299 crore nett in India itself after the 50 days of its release. Of which, the whopping collection came from the Kannada Box office amounting to Rs 142 cr nett, followed by Hindi and Tamil at Rs 82 cr and 50 cr, respectively. The film collected Rs 358 cr as highest grosser in Karnataka. It has been reportedly made with Rs 16 cr and has been declared as one of the successful films.
The overseas nett stands at 44 cr, while Rs 402 cr as its worldwide gross collections. In the first week, it earned Rs 22 cr, second Rs 31 cr, third Rs 63 cr, fourth Rs 60 cr, fifth Rs 53 cr, sixth Rs 37 cr, seventh Rs 20 cr and Eighth Rs 11 cr.
Word of mouth became the best marketing for it considering good content as per audiences and also has highest footfalls for any film in Karnataka. Moreover, it has been the 2nd highest grossing Kannada film ever globally, with 4th highest Telugu dubbed film of all time at the Box-office in Telugu states and 8th highest grossing South Indian film at the Hindi Box-office.
