Ahead of the release of Mr & Mrs Mahi on 31 May, Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao sat down with Karan Johar to discuss their respective journeys in the film industry.
They spoke candidly about their success, setbacks, and the perseverance required to navigate the demanding world of Bollywood.

Rajkummar Rao & Janhvi Kapoor Talk About Their Struggles With Karan Johar
During the conversation, Janhvi Kapoor offered a unique perspective as a star kid. She discussed the pressures and hurdles she faces due to her celebrity status.
When asked by Karan Johar about recently attending a match and the subsequent trolling she faced, Kapoor responded, “I don’t think it is a very healthy thing. My bigger problem is I haven’t even allowed myself to feel bad about it.”
She referred to it as a ‘privileged problem,’ acknowledging the toll it can take on mental health. She added, “People don’t like someone to speak bad about them.”
Rajkummar Rao opened up about the challenges he has faced in his career. He highlighted the importance of perseverance and the effort needed to establish oneself in the industry.
Rao shared, “There was a time when I was told to attend parties and events to make contacts.” Despite these pressures, he remained focused on his craft and dedication.
Amidst these reflections, Rajkummar Rao took a moment to praise his co-star for her dedication and work ethic. He acknowledged Janhvi’s commitment to her roles and her resilience in the face of criticism and pressure.

About Mr & Mrs Mahi
Mr & Mrs Mahi is a romantic sports drama film slated for release in 2024. Directed by Sharan Sharma and produced by Zee Studios and Dharma Productions, the movie stars Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor.
It follows the story of Mahendra, a failed cricketer, and Mahima, a doctor, who enter into an arranged marriage. Both share the nickname Mahi, they become known as Mr and Mrs Mahi.
Their shared love for cricket leads Mahendra to discover Mahima’s talent in the sport. Encouraged by her husband, Mahima pursues her dream of becoming a cricketer, with Mahendra coaching her along the way. The film is set to hit theatres on May 31, 2024.
This film also marks the second collaboration between Sharma and Janhvi Kapoor after their work together on Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl.
