The Courtroom Has Returned — and the Fire Too: Taapsee Pannu Begins Filming Mulk 2

Taapsee Pannu has started work on Anubhav Sinha‘s Mulk 2, the sequel to the hard-hitting 2018 legal drama. The actress was recently seen filming intense courtroom scenes at a Bandra church, converted into a courtroom set.

Taapsee Pannu Films Important Monologues At Bandra Church

Mulk 2 is in its first phase of shooting over the past two weeks in the Bandra locality of Mumbai — where a church serves as a courtroom. It is not confirmed whether she will reprise her role as lawyer Aarti Mohammed, but sources tell us her character is once again the emotional fulcrum of the storyline.

“The courtroom sequences are intense and emotionally charged. Taapsee delivers long monologues with unfaltering clarity. She is very committed to the script,” a unit member mentioned.

This leg of the shoot is expected to wrap in four days.

Mulk 2 To Go Outdoors – Lucknow, Meerut & Karnal Finalised

Director Anubhav Sinha is known for socially rooted narratives in films such as Article 15, Thappad, and Mulk, and he will maintain his realistic tone in Mulk 2. After the Mumbai phase of shooting, the film will head to Uttar Pradesh and Haryana for an intense outdoor shoot for 20 days.

An insider shared,

“The next leg includes filming rally sequences and courtroom scenes in Lucknow, Meerut and Karnal. These locations will enhance the raw, real-world texture of the film.”

Sinha is again focusing on faith, identity, and civil liberties — the three subjects that helped Mulk become a critical success in 2018.

BoxOfficeWorldwide Verdict

With Mulk 2, Anubhav Sinha and Taapsee Pannu are once again preparing to hold a mirror to society. From churches converted into courtrooms to filming in real Indian towns, the intention is for this sequel to be just as bold, uncomfortable, and significant as the original.

Expect fireworks — both in court and in theatres.
