Imtiaz Ali Now Searching Female Leads For His Period Love Story
While Imtiaz has already revealed Idiots of Istanbul starring Fahadh Faasil and Triptii Dimri, sources close to him have confirmed that his next project will feature a fresh mix of talent.
The male cast is confirmed with Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, and Naseeruddin Shah locked in. A Pinkvilla report reveals that the search for the female lead is still ongoing and Imtiaz is planning to cast three actresses from different generations to add diversity and depth to the story.
The film will combine elements of the past and present. “Imtiaz has cracked a tale that merges contemporary elements with the period world and is excited to embark on a journey of discovery with his next,” the source said.
Production To Begin In May 2025, Valentine’s Day 2026 Release Targeted
The film is set to release in 2026, with Imtiaz aiming for a Valentine’s Day weekend premiere. Production is scheduled to start by May 2025, though this will depend on finalising the cast.
“The idea is to cast actresses apt to bring Imtiaz Ali’s vision to the big screen. The filmmaker is looking to attempt something he has never done before,” the source added.
After completing this romantic saga, Imtiaz will move on to Idiots of Istanbul, which is expected to start production in early 2026.
