The Delhi High Court has blocked T-Series from using the title Aashiqui for their movies. This ruling is a major development in the ongoing clash between Mukesh Bhatt and T-Series Chairman Bhushan Kumar.
Mukesh Bhatt Speaks Out On Aashiqui Franchise
Filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt has spoken about the Aashiqui franchise and the need to safeguard its integrity.
In an interview with TOI, Bhatt clarified his stance. “I made Aashiqui 2 with the same values that I made the first one with. I have the experience of understanding what to do and what not to do. I’ve been in the business for 50 years which unfortunately Bhushan is not.”
Mukesh added, “He was not understanding the core values of what Aashiqui should be and unintentionally he was doing more things to harm it than to do good for it. The idea is to protect the franchise,” he said.
Bhatt explained that his actions were driven by a desire to preserve the Aashiqui franchise. “I did what I did to protect the brand Aashiqui, not only for myself and Bhushan but people in general. Aashiqui as a franchise belongs to the audience. If Aashiqui dies, love dies, music dies,” he said.
He added, “We are committed to protect it for the audience for years to come. I did this, because this was the only way there could be a stoppage for him to do a further harm to the franchise because he was unintentionally doing damage to it.”
He stressed that Aashiqui belongs to its audience, and if the franchise were to falter, it would be a loss to the world of music and love. Bhatt’s goal was to halt any further damage that Kumar’s actions might cause.
The Delhi High Court’s judgement, issued on Wednesday, supports Bhatt’s concerns. Justice Sanjeev Narula stated that T-Series’ use of the Aashiqui title could lead to public confusion and potentially dilute the brand’s value. The court ruled in favour of Vishesh Films, Bhatt’s production company, following T-Series’ announcement of a film with a similar title.
