Fans were excited when Sunny Deol announced the sequel to his iconic 1997 film Border. The new project, titled Border 2, is set to hit theatres on January 23, 2026. Directed by Anurag Singh, this sequel promises to continue the legacy of the original film, which remains a cult classic.
Initially, reports suggested that Ayushmann Khurrana would star alongside Deol in the film. However, after several months of negotiations, Khurrana has stepped away from the project. Reports indicate that he was uncertain about his role within the ensemble cast led by Deol.
Now, Diljit Dosanjh has officially joined the cast of Border 2. This addition was confirmed through an announcement video shared by T-Series.

The video features Dosanjh’s voice declaring, “Iss desh ke taraf uthne wali har nazar jhuk jaati hai khauf se, inn sarhado par jab guru ke paas pehra dete hai,” (Every gaze rising towards this country bows down in fear when the guards stand watch over these borders.)

The announcement has generated considerable excitement among fans. T-Series enthusiastically welcomed Dosanjh to the film’s cast, highlighting his inclusion in the expanding Border 2 family. The video also confirms the release date, set for January 23, 2026.
Before the official confirmation, sources hinted at Dosanjh’s involvement, noting that while nothing was finalised at that point, it would be thrilling to see him and Deol share screen space. This combination is expected to appeal strongly to audiences, especially in northern India.
About Border 2
Border 2 will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. The film will once again explore themes of patriotism and bravery, reminiscent of its predecessor, which depicted the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.
The original film was celebrated not only for its powerful performances by actors like Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, and Akshaye Khanna but also for its memorable musical score, including the hit song “Sandese Aate Hai” by Roopkumar Rathod and Sonu Nigam.
