Sunny Deol’s ambitious action drama Parshuram has slammed into an unexpected pause. The film, which had generated strong curiosity as a collaboration between Deol and Kill director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, is no longer moving ahead on its planned schedule after Bhat locked his next directorial commitment in Hollywood.
The update was first published by Bollywood Hungama, which stated that “the project has now hit a roadblock and has been postponed indefinitely.” The film, backed by Madhu Mantena and Mythri Movie Makers, had been expected to go on floors in October 2026 before Bhat’s international move reshaped the timeline in a big way.
Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’S Hollywood Leap Freezes Parshuram
Bhat has moved to Deadlocked, an action thriller for Amazon MGM Studios starring Jamie Foxx, marking a major international step for the filmmaker after the impact of Kill. The source material states that he had been in talks for a Hollywood collaboration for nearly two years and has now begun preparations for the project, making Parshuram an immediate casualty of that scheduling shift.
As a result, Parshuram has now been pushed to 2027. The producers are evaluating two concrete paths, waiting for Bhat to complete Deadlocked or appointing another director to take the film forward. At the same time, Mythri Movie Makers is also exploring Jaat 2 as a faster-moving alternative within its lineup, though no final decision has been announced yet.
Deadlocked itself underlines why Bhat’s calendar has tightened so sharply. The film follows a grieving former Marine serving jury duty who is pulled back into action when a courthouse hostage crisis explodes during the trial of the century. With Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video backing the project, Bhat’s immediate focus has decisively shifted overseas.
Sunny Deol’S Packed Lineup Keeps The Heat On
If Parshuram has stalled, Sunny Deol’s larger screen presence has not. The actor remains deep in a commercial phase that continues to lean into scale, nostalgia and event cinema. After the 2023 success of Gadar 2, he returned to theatres with Jaat in 2025, extending his action-driven momentum with a film mounted by Mythri Movie Makers.
Now, Deol’s calendar is stacked with titles designed for big-screen conversation. Lahore 1947 has since been retitled Batwara 1947, with the historical drama set for an August 14, 2026 theatrical release. He is also part of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1, scheduled for release on November 6, 2026, where he plays Lord Hanuman. Alongside that, Border 2 remains one of the most closely watched titles in his upcoming slate, reinforcing the fact that Deol is firmly positioned in the middle of another large-scale theatrical run.
That is what gives the Parshuram delay its sting. This was not a dormant project waiting to be revived someday. It was a high-interest film caught in the path of a director’s international breakthrough, and its hold now stands as one of the more significant scheduling shake-ups in Sunny Deol’s current lineup.
