While Akshay Kumar’s Bellbottom became the first Hindi film to be released in theatres following the pandemic’s deadly second wave, not all filmmakers have been encouraged to take this risk. While numerous films remain on the OTT platform, there have been rumours that certain big-budget films will opt for direct-to-digital distribution.
Pen Studios, which is backing films like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Attack, and RRR, has now clarified the situation regarding their films’ direct-to-digital release. The studio has said that their movies would only be released in theatres.

There have been several rumours doing rounds about these films releasing on OTT platforms before cinemas which are untrue. These magnum opus films are made for the big screen experience and would be releasing in theatres,” read the statement by Pen Studios.
