Rajkumar Hirani Locks May 2026 JioHotstar Premiere For Pritam Pedro As Arshad Warsi And Vir Hirani Team Up For Cybercrime Thriller

Rajkumar Hirani is officially stepping into the streaming space, and he is doing it with a world that feels tailor-made for 2026: digital crime, surveillance anxiety, and cops who do not even agree on what “investigation” should look like. Hirani’s first web series, Pritam Pedro, is lined up for a May 2026 premiere on JioHotstar, bringing together his longtime collaborator Arshad Warsi and introducing Hirani’s son Vir Hirani in his on-screen acting debut.

Set up as a cybercrime thriller, the show leans into a classic buddy-cop tension, only this time the fight is not just about ego or hierarchy, it is about generations and methods. Warsi plays a senior, old-school police officer, while Vir plays a younger cop who is also a techie, using newer tools and unconventional digital tactics to crack cases.

Latest Update: Pritam Pedro To Premiere On JioHotstar In May 2026

The May 2026 window is now the confirmed target for Pritam Pedro’s release on JioHotstar. The series has had multiple scheduling revisions during its journey, with a longer-than-usual post-production phase also being part of the process. Hirani is attached as showrunner and co-producer, ensuring the series stays rooted in his creative supervision even as he moves into long-form storytelling for the first time.

The story’s core conflict is built around the ideological clash between Warsi’s seasoned cop and Vir’s tech-forward officer. The series was shot across multiple cities including Goa, Mumbai, and Pune, in keeping with the globe-trotting, multi-location demands of contemporary investigative thrillers.

Casting Switch: Vikrant Massey Was Originally In The Mix

One of the key behind-the-scenes developments around Pritam Pedro has been its evolving casting. Vikrant Massey was initially cast as the younger officer opposite Warsi, before exiting the project. Following the reshuffle, Vir Hirani stepped into the role that now becomes his first screen performance.

Vir Hirani has trained at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and has also been active in theatre, including performing a 35-minute monologue in Feroz Abbas Khan’s Letters of Suresh.

Arshad Warsi’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Warsi has continued to balance ensemble comedies with darker material across theatres and streaming, while also remaining closely associated with the Munna Bhai universe that first paired him with Hirani. On the film front, he has multiple big-ticket titles in the pipeline, including Welcome To The Jungle, and he is also part of Dhamaal 4, which is scheduled to release in theatres on Eid 2026. On the franchise side, Warsi has also said Hirani is seriously working on Munna Bhai 3, keeping the much-loved series firmly on fans’ radar as well.
