A casting rumour can travel faster than a teaser drop, and this week, Aneet Padda found herself at the centre of one such whirlwind. After breaking out with Yash Raj Films’ musical romance Saiyaara, the actor’s name began trending online over claims that she had been signed to play screen legend Madhubala in a biopic. The chatter was loud, the posts were confident, and the alleged “replacement” angle only added fuel.
But as of today, March 10, 2026, that speculation has been firmly put to rest.
YRF Denies The Rumour Around Aneet Padda
Yash Raj Films, which manages Aneet Padda, has denied the claim. When asked about the reports linking Padda to the Madhubala biopic, a talent spokesperson from the banner responded with a clear statement: “It’s untrue”.
The denial comes after social media buzz suggested Padda was being considered for the role, with some posts even claiming she was replacing Kiara Advani. No official casting announcement for the Madhubala project has been made by the biopic’s producers in this context, and YRF’s response makes it clear that Padda is not attached to the film.
The broader Madhubala biopic landscape has seen multiple announcements and expressions of interest over the years. In 2024, Sony Pictures International Productions and Brewing Thoughts Pvt Ltd announced a Madhubala biopic as a co-production involving Madhubala’s sister Madhur Brij Bhushan and Arvind Kumar Malviya under the banner of Madhubala Ventures, with Jasmeet K Reen named to direct at the time. Separately, designer and producer Manish Malhotra has also been associated with developing a project on the iconic actor.
For now, however, one thing is definitive: Aneet Padda is not playing Madhubala.
Aneet Padda’s Recent And Upcoming Work
Padda rose to mainstream attention with Yash Raj Films’ Saiyaara (2025), directed by Mohit Suri, in which she played Vaani Batra, an aspiring writer diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. The film’s success quickly positioned her as one of the most watched new faces of her generation.
Her next confirmed feature is Shakti Shalini, part of producer Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. The film’s title was unveiled with a teaser that played alongside Thamma (2025), and Shakti Shalini is officially dated for a theatrical release on December 24, 2026. Filmmaker Amar Kaushik has also spoken about the casting, saying: “When we were writing the script, we realised that we needed a younger actor. Meanwhile, we saw her film Saiyaara and realised that she suits the part perfectly for that character. She heard the story and came on board.”
With one high-profile denial and one major franchise film locked in, Padda’s next moves are already attracting the kind of spotlight usually reserved for far more seasoned stars.
