Another familiar Bollywood pairing is heading back to the big screen. Bhumi Pednekar has officially joined Priyadarshan’s next film with Akshay Kumar, setting up the duo’s third on-screen collaboration and giving the director’s new project an instantly recognisable star combination.
Priyadarshan Locks Bhumi For The Film
The casting update now stands confirmed straight from Priyadarshan. Speaking about the film, the filmmaker said, “Bhumi Pednekar has agreed to do the film.” That one line settles the speculation around the female lead and puts Bhumi firmly into one of the more closely watched Hindi projects currently in development.
The film marks Bhumi and Akshay’s third outing together. They first shared screen space in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha in 2017, a film that clicked strongly with audiences, and reunited for Raksha Bandhan in 2022. With Priyadarshan now bringing them together once again, the new film arrives with built in familiarity and a pairing viewers already know well.

Bhumi’s addition does more than complete the lead pair. It gives the film a bankable combination of a mainstream star and a performer who has steadily built a reputation for choosing character driven roles. Her 2023 releases included Afwaah and Thank You for Coming, showing the range she has tried to maintain across genres.
This untitled Priyadarshan film with Akshay now becomes one of her key confirmed upcoming projects. It also marks a clear return to a larger commercial setup after a stretch of content led work.

Akshay was most recently seen in Haiwaan, which released in September 2026, and Bhooth Bangla, another major 2026 release. Before that, he featured in Housefull 5 and Jolly LLB 3 in 2025. His next confirmed theatrical release is Golmaal 5, scheduled to arrive in cinemas on January 8, 2027.
For now, though, the headline update is Bhumi’s entry into Priyadarshan’s next film, a move that revives a known on-screen pairing and gives the project an immediate commercial hook.
