In a recent interview, Priyamani, who is known for her roles in The Family Man and Jawan, was asked for her take on the 8-hour shift demand. She offered a balanced view on the controversial subject.
Priyamani Calls It A ‘Subjective’ Choice
Speaking to News18 Showsha, Priyamani explained that she sees the issue as “completely subjective.” While she understands the need for fixed hours, she also feels that the nature of the film industry sometimes requires flexibility.
“There are times when you will have to adjust, which is okay, and you should make room for it,” the actress said. Her comment suggests that while having set work hours is a good idea, actors should also be prepared to accommodate the demands of a film’s schedule when needed.
Deepika Padukone’s Stand On The Issue
Deepika Padukone herself recently addressed the situation. In a conversation with CNBC, she pointed out that many male superstars in the industry have been working 8-hour shifts for years, and it has never become a headline. She questioned why it was being turned into a big deal when she asked for the same.
“By virtue of being a woman, if that’s coming across as being pushy or whatever, then so be it,” Deepika stated, making it clear she would stand her ground. She added that she prefers to fight her battles “silently in a dignified way.” The debate has certainly divided opinions, with many supporting Deepika for prioritizing her well-being.
