PVRInox Faces ₹151 Cr Loss In FY 2025 Despite ₹5874 Cr Revenue; Dip in Hindi Releases Impacts Business

India’s largest multiplex chain, PVRInox, has reported a consolidated loss of ₹151 crores for the financial year 2024–2025, up from ₹114 crores in losses from the year prior. While revenue was solid at ₹5874 crores, which was lower than the ₹6203 crores in FY 2023–2024, the loss should be a core concern.

At the root of the losses is some disappointing reality; fewer theatrical releases, especially in Hindi films, resulted in lower footfalls and revenue. Even with ticket prices freezing and initiatives like National Cinema Day and Blockbuster Tuesdays, it seems that the death of the theatrical experience is getting closer.

Admits Fall To 13.7 Crore, Hindi Films Contribute Just 41% To Box Office

In total, PVRInox saw 13.7 crore admissions in FY25, down from 15.4 crore in FY24. The average ticket price remained stable at ₹259, and promotions provided access to better price points and concerned repeat visits. The box office contribution was as follows:

  • Hindi films: 41%

  • Regional content: 32%

  • Hollywood: 14%

  • Hindi-dubbed films: 13%

Breakdown of Revenue & Top Performers

PVRInox’s revenue of ₹5874 crore came from:

  • ₹2754 crore – Ticket sales

  • ₹1827 crore – Food & beverage sales

  • ₹447 crore – Advertising

  • ₹211 crore – Convenience fees

The EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation, and Amortisation) was shown to be a healthy ₹470 crore, signifying strength in operations despite reporting net losses.

The highest-performing films across the chain in FY 2024–25 were:

Re-releases accounted for a healthy ₹124 crore, buoyed by popular returned hits such as Tumbbad, Interstellar, and Sanam Teri Kasam, with a total combined attendance of 71 lakh.

Screening Expansion Moving Ahead; FY26 Could Be Super With Star Studded Slate

Operating at this time with 1723 screens across 349 locations, PVRInox has committed to adding an additional 100 screens in FY 2025–26, reaffirming its growth trajectory despite short-term setbacks.

Given the film slate for the upcoming fiscal pricing now, it will offer, in fact, some of the strongest recovery potential seen this far, coming on a star-averaged release slate, with:

  • Mission Impossible 8

  • Housefull 5

  • Thug Life

  • Sitaare Zameen Par

  • Jurassic World

  • War 2

  • Coolie

  • Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsikumari

  • Baaghi 4

  • Jolly LLB 3

  • Kantara 2

  • Thama

  • Alpha

BoxOfficeWorldwide Verdict

Even with the cumulative red ink, PVRInox continues to boast positive operational KPIs, has consumer pull, and is banking heavily on a blockbuster lead-up FY26 year that shifts both the revenue base level performance and sentiment in fiscal actions. With Hindi cinema having the momentum to roar back and pan-India films like Pushpa 2 delivering no collateral effects, including KGF 3139, this could be a financial recovery worthy of its own cinematic legacy.
