Saif Ali Khan is making his highly-anticipated return to the Race franchise. Producer Ramesh Taurani has confirmed that the actor will lead Race 4. Taurani, who heads Tips Films, shared that the next instalment is set to begin production in 2025.
Ramesh Taurani On Saif Ali Khan’s Return With Race 4
Speaking about Saif’s return, Taurani expressed his excitement. “Saif will be back in the Race franchise, and we are thrilled to have him on board. He did an amazing job in the first two films,” he told PTI.
He also revealed that they are currently finalising the script and cast for the movie, which will feature an ensemble lineup.
However, fans will have to wait a little longer for official details. Taurani mentioned that an official announcement would come before filming begins, most likely in 2024. The film’s director hasn’t been decided yet, adding another layer of anticipation to the project.
The Race franchise first hit screens in 2008, with Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna playing brothers involved in a twisted tale of betrayal and rivalry.
The action-packed film became a hit, and its 2013 sequel Race 2 also saw Saif return, this time with John Abraham playing the antagonist. Both films did well at the box office, securing the franchise’s reputation for high-octane action, glamour, and gripping plot twists.
However, Race 3, released in 2018, took a different route by casting Salman Khan in the lead.

Despite mixed reviews from critics, Taurani defended the film’s performance, noting it grossed over Rs 180 crore, making it profitable.
“The third part did better business than the first two, but it didn’t get the same critical response,” he said.
Taurani assured fans that they are taking every step to ensure Race 4 delivers on all fronts.
What’s More For Ramesh Taurani?
Taurani also teased fans with exciting news about another sequel. He revealed plans for a follow-up to the 1998 action thriller Soldier, which starred Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta. “We want to make Soldier 2. It’s a strong franchise, and we’re currently working on the script,” he added.
In addition to these projects, Tips Films has several films in the pipeline. They are working with filmmaker David Dhawan and his son, Varun Dhawan, on an untitled family entertainer. This will be their third collaboration after Main Tera Hero and the Coolie No. 1 reboot.
Another project in work is Maalik, an action thriller starring Rajkummar Rao, directed by Pulkit, who previously worked on Bhakshak. Taurani praised Rajkummar’s versatility, saying, “He’s a great actor and will shine in his first action role.”
