Raid 2 Starts Off Strong Ahead of May 1 Release
After many delays, Ajay Devgn’s much-anticipated film Raid 2 is already creating a buzz at the box office before its official release. Scheduled to be released in theatres on May 1, 2025, Raid 2 saw robust advance bookings by Monday afternoon, which bodes well for the film’s opening.
As per the most recent numbers at 3:30 PM on April 28, Raid 2 has sold roughly 9,100 tickets across the national exhibition chains, building positive momentum going into Release Day.
Raid 2 Advance Booking Snapshot:
- PVR Inox: 7,500 tickets
- Cinepolis: 1,600 tickets
- Total: 9,100 tickets
The Raid 2 trend more than proves that despite competing titles, it is clear that audiences are vocal about wanting to see another sequel from Devgn’s hard-hitting franchise. With one full day of advance sales left to go, the total is expected to climb into the eleven to twelve thousand range at the conclusion of advance sales.
Sequel Raises the Stakes to Bigger Possibilities and Concerns
Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid 2 is the direct sequel to the 2018 blockbuster.
Joining the cast is Riteish Deshmukh, who plays a more powerful political rival, which should make for some exciting tension. The cast also stars Vaani Kapoor, Rajat Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Supriya Pathak, and Amit Sial — boosting the cast’s credibility.
Will Raid 2 Benchmark or Surpass the Original’s Box Office Trappings?
The original Raid opened to great box office success, taking ₹41.01 crore in its first weekend, before reaching more than ₹100 crore domestically.
Looking at advance booking demand already, followed by both a public holiday release, it’s fair to say that Raid 2 could possibly open stronger, depending on spot bookings and consumer engagement post-release.
The big question is: can Ajay Devgn recreate — if not surpass — the box office magic of Raid?
