They’ve changed the scene for Indian streaming content, with shows like The Family Man, Farzi, Guns & Gulaabs, and Citadel: Honey Bunny. But Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK—from now on, Raj & DK—are about to change it up again. After seven years away from theatrical filmmaking, the duo is excited to re-enter the theatre space with not one but two films in development.
From OTT Kings to Theatrical Storytellers Again
It would be fair to say that Raj & DK have put successful digital properties on the map—in the past six years, they developed and launched four back-to-back successful web series, making them the creators of choice in the digital space. According to a recent report, Farzi 2—the final sequel to the highly anticipated Shahid Kapoor-Vijay Sethupathi thriller—preps for a late 2025 production start; the duo are preparing and finalising their slate for a big screen return.
An insider shared,
“They are currently neck-deep in three series at the moment – prepping Farzi 2, developing Rakt Bramhand, and in the midst of a post on The Family Man 3. In the meantime, they have honed in on two theatrical scripts.”
Theatrical Return After Stree (2018)
The last film directed by Amar Kaushik, to make its theatrical debut, was Stree (2018), which Raj & DK produced and co-wrote — and which also became a blockbuster horror comedy. Their previous feature films, such as Go Goa Gone (2013), were hybrid cult classics, while their other films, like A Gentleman (2017) and Happy Ending (2014), had more mixed reactions.
This upcoming venture marks Raj & DK’s long-awaited return to the big screen — and they’re approaching it with measured creativity. As per reports, the duo will direct one of the two films themselves, while the second will be helmed by another filmmaker. It’s a collaborative model they’ve often championed, having previously supported directors like Amar Kaushik (Stree) and Praveen Kandregula (Cinema Bandi) under their creative wing.
What’s Next? Big Screen in 2026
Farzi 2 is scheduled to commence filming in December 2025, following the completion of Raj & DK’s current project, Rakht Brahmand. The anticipated release for Farzi 2 is in the latter half of 2026.
Importantly, industry insiders have said that this upcoming return to the screen does not signal that there will be a halt to their streaming projects. Raj & DK will continue to straddle the medium — a model that they have become good at!
