Raj Kundra, Shilpa Shetty’s husband, is currently in judicial custody after being arrested in a pornography-related case. He will have to serve more time in prison. The sessions court on Tuesday postponed a hearing on his bail application until August 20 after the Crime Branch stated 19 reasons to oppose it.
The Crime Branch stated in court that Kundra was refusing to cooperate and that their investigation was still ongoing. They also stated that much more evidence needed to be gathered and that many more witnesses and victims were coming forward to provide statements.
Previously it was reported, pornographic content was streamed via an app called HotShots, which was tied to Kundra’s company. Kundra was in control of the app through Kenrin Limited, a London-based company, according to the police. Pradeep Bakshi, Kundra’s brother-in-law, owns the company and is now wanted in the case.
The Crime Branch opposed Kundra’s bail request, claiming that as a powerful person, he could tamper with evidence and influence witnesses because some of them work for his company. They further said that if he walks out on bond, he may flee the nation because he is a British citizen.
In the pornographic case, the detectives have so far detained 11 persons, including Kundra. They’ve also been accused of pressuring women into working in adult content after promising them jobs in Bollywood and other OTT platforms. The defence lawyer requested extra time to answer to the crime branch’s points. The case will be heard in court on August 20.
