Rajkumar Santoshi directed a movie on a real historical story about the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi. The battle took place between British and Afghan soldiers. A story about the 21 Sikhs who refused to surrender themselves to the enemies.
Randeep Hooda played the role of leader Sikh army in Santoshi’s film. The actor hustled really hard to achieve the role of leader in the film. Unfortunately, the film left incomplete because Karan Johar announced his production movie Kesari based on the same story, in which Akshay Kumar played the role of Sikh leader.
Now, Rajkumar Santoshi is again making a film on the same story as he is unhappy with how Kesari dealt with the issue. According to Bollywood Hungama, In an interview with Indian Express, Santoshi said, “I had announced a film called Battle of Saragarhi. Unfortunately (it didn’t work out). I shot for twenty days. It was a war film but another film (Kesari) on the same subject was announced with Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar. So, my financiers and I discussed the issue and they got a little worried and backed out. Now next year I’ll do a film on the same subject because I feel that they have not done justice to the subject and it is a great subject.”
Raj Santoshi’s upcoming movie is Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh and it is all set to be released in the theaters on January 26.
