Hrithik Roshan is one of the biggest and probably one of the last true superstars in Bollywood. After making an explosive debut with Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, he went on to star in several unsuccessful films. But his father and filmmaker Rakesh Roshan then came up with the 2003 science fiction film Koi Mil Gaya which was a major critical and commercial success. This helped in resurrecting Hrithik’s career in every way.
Recently, the film celebrated its 20th anniversary of its release. On this occasion, the makers have decided to re-release it. Director Rakesh Roshan talked about how he got the idea of the film when one day he saw his granddaughter Suranika watching a cartoon show on television that featured aliens. Rakesh then asked her what it was. He said, “I was surprised that a kid her age not only understood what an alien was but also seemed entertained by the sci-fi concept.”
He revealed the most challenging aspect of making the film; it was to create an alien that won’t scare children. He said, “I was certain that I wanted an alien that the children would not be scared of, rather someone who would be seen as a friendly alien. So, I shared the concept of an alien who was of the same height as the children and someone with very expressive eyes, as Jaadoo primarily communicates through his eyes.”
