Ramayana Races Ahead In Advance Bookings As Imax Tickets Priced At Rs 1,095 Power 400 Percent Higher Sales Pace

A Rs 1,095 movie ticket is usually a tough sell this far out from release. Ramayana is turning that logic on its head. With ten days still to go before it hits theatres, the film has already built Rs 8.72 crore in advance sales from close to 2 lakh tickets, and the sharpest push is coming from IMAX, where shows are selling at a pace nearly 400 percent higher than regular screenings.

Imax Pricing Turns Into A Strength

The booking split reveals just how strongly audiences are leaning into the premium experience. Regular shows have sold around 1.5 lakh tickets across more than 4,100 screenings, which comes to roughly 35 tickets per show. IMAX screenings have sold over 23,000 tickets across 140 shows, averaging about 170 tickets per screening.

That difference translates into a sales pace nearly 400 percent higher for IMAX. The pricing makes the trend even more notable. While regular shows are averaging around Rs 380 per ticket, IMAX is clocking an average price of Rs 1,095. Other premium formats such as 4DX, ICE and Dolby Cinema have also added more than 12,000 ticket sales across languages so far.

Hindi Leads As Other Language Rollout Expands

Hindi remains the clear engine of the film’s advance booking run and contributes the vast majority of the business so far. Kannada screenings have started gaining ground as more screens open, with the version moving towards the Rs 1 crore mark. Telugu bookings are still at an earlier stage because the rollout remains limited to a smaller number of shows.

That staggered language expansion is important to the bigger picture. With more dubbed versions and additional centres expected to open closer to release, the current sales trend still has room to build. Early houseful boards in several centres have already started appearing, and that momentum now feeds directly into the scale at which the film is being positioned for its theatrical launch.

Cast, Crew And Release Details

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part 1 is mounted as the first chapter of a two-part mythological epic. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. It is backed by Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.

The first part is scheduled for a worldwide release on November 5, 2026, and is also set for a global IMAX rollout. Sony Pictures is handling international distribution outside India, while Dharma Productions is distributing the film in the Hindi market. The scale of that release strategy aligns closely with the premium-format demand already visible in bookings.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Box Office Momentum

The advance booking trend also lands at a significant point in Ranbir Kapoor’s theatrical run. His last two releases, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and Animal, both arrived in 2023, with Animal emerging as a major commercial high in his career. That recent box office momentum gives Ramayana a stronger launch cushion, especially in urban multiplex markets where star-led event films often rely on early premium-screen demand.

In that sense, the current booking pattern is not just about scale or pricing. It also reflects the confidence audiences are showing in Kapoor’s return to the big screen in a high-visibility spectacle. Beyond Ramayana, he is also attached to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, currently slated for 2027.
