Ramayana Glimpse Postponed At WAVES 2025 Due To Pahalgam Situation, Confirms Producer Namit Malhotra

The much-anticipated first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana was scheduled to launch at WAVES Summit 2025 — but in light of recent events in Pahalgam, the reveal has been respectfully postponed.

The hype surrounding Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, had reached a fever pitch ahead of the WAVES Summit 2025, culminating in the media waiting for a big announcement from producer Namit Malhotra. But as journalists braced for the unveiling, Malhotra spoke to the press in a pivot announcing his team had decided to delay the project.

On stage and addressing the summit, Malhotra confirmed:

“We planned to launch the Ramayana glimpse today at WAVES 2025, but postponed it due to the situation in Pahalgam.”

In light of recent terror-related incidents in the area, it makes sense that the team would wait for a more appropriate time, as sensitivity should always take precedence over hype.

Ramayana Goes Global — With AI, VFX and Unmatched Scope

Even with the delay of the film, Malhotra promised the team is still passionately working towards creating a world-class experience for the audience.

Ramayana is a story meant for the world,” he said.

Armed with the latest advancements in VFX and AI, equipped with real-time lip-syncing, this film promises to be unlike anything seen before — breaking down language barriers and allowing people across the globe to watch it in their aboriginal dialects rather than a dubbed format synced up to on-screen performance.

The producer added:

“We’re using technology to ensure the lip movement matches in multiple languages. We want audiences to feel the film was made in their own language — no matter where they’re watching it.”

What’s Next: Part Two, World-Wide Distribution & Expectations

The production is on the go, and shooting for part two will soon occur, Malhotra said. The film is also directed by Nitesh Tiwari, and the production of the film is on an unheard-of scale, making it one of the biggest films from India.

Ranbir Kapoor stars as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana, with Ramayana already being referred to as a “franchise in the making” with expectations for multiple parts and a worldwide release.

With the summit reveal pushed to a later date, fans are now excited to see what the next official drop will be — to perhaps help redefine Indian mythological cinema for a worldwide audience.
