Maddock Supernatural Universe has mastered the horror-comedy universe with recent blockbusters like Stree 2 and Munjya. The trend is going viral in Bollywood, with the latest attempt by Sanjay Dutt in The Bhootnii. Sunny Singh and Mouni Roy co-starrer bombed at box office on day one itself.
The Bhootnii Collects Poor 60 Lacs On Day One
Directed by Sidhaant Sachdev, The Bhootnii also stars Palak Tiwari and Nickunj Lotia (BeYouNick). Unfortunately, the odds have not been in favor of the horror-comedy so far. The pre-release buzz was negligible. The trailer also received a lukewarm response. There is also a lack of awareness around the film led by Sanjay Dutt. Then poor reviews and bad word of mouth hurt the film further.
Film managed to collect poor 60 lacs net on day one that too film’s collection kept dropping throughout the day. Film dropped further on day two itself and collected poor 35 lac net.
Film has 2 – day total of 95 lac net. It will see slim growth today and 4 – day weekend will be under 2 crore net. Monday will see massive reduction in shows.

There are many options at the ticket windows currently. The Bhootnii has been released alongside Raid 2, which was bound to steal its thunder. The advance booking has been negligible, and the morning occupancy trends were too low to report. Besides, there’s also competition from Kesari Chapter 2 and Jaat.
Film also faced competition from Hollywood release Thunderbolts and major south releases like Retroand Hit 3. Even a limited Hollywood release Thunderbolts collected 3.50 crore net and holdover releases Kesari 2 and new release Raid 2 were way higher.
