Ramayana has become one of the most eagerly anticipated projects in Bollywood. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by DNEG, the film features a star-studded cast with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Raavan, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.
Filming commenced in March in Mumbai, and it has now been revealed that Ramayana will be a two-part film rather than the originally planned trilogy.
Ramayana Is An Ambitious Two-Part Approach
According to a report from Pinkvilla, sources revealed that the decision to make Ramayana a two-part saga was driven by the scale and complexity of the story. Unlike typical sequels, both parts of Ramayana will be filmed simultaneously.
“Given the scale and magnitude of the film, the makers have opted for a two-part approach to tell the story. While most in the business await the results of part one before taking the second one on floors, Ramayana will be shot simultaneously,” a source disclosed.

The production team has mapped out an extensive 350-day shooting schedule that includes both parts of Ramayana. This schedule covers combination scenes featuring the entire star cast as well as individual sequences.
A significant portion of Part Two will be completed even before Part One hits the screens. “The principal shoot of both Ramayana films will be completed by December 2025, with post-production work progressing simultaneously,” the source added. This back-to-back filming schedule aims to ensure consistency in the actors’ appearances.
Hanuman Spin-Off In Works
Following the completion of the two-part Ramayana, Nitesh Tiwari and DNEG have plans to develop a Hanuman spin-off. This project, still in the conceptual phase, could potentially serve as the third instalment in this epic saga. The official release dates for the Ramayana films will be announced once the first part’s shooting wraps up.
Ramayana’s official announcement is expected soon, accompanied by a major audio-visual asset revealing the global talent involved in the project. The technical team is a blend of Indian and international professionals, ensuring a high-quality cinematic experience. The music for Ramayana is being composed by the legendary Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman.
