Sony Pictures Kickstarts Ramayana Global Campaign Tomorrow, Marking A Major Worldwide Push For The Epic

Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana is taking a decisive step onto the world stage, with Sony Pictures set to kickstart the film’s global campaign tomorrow in what marks a major international push for one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious projects.

The fresh update came through a statement carrying the signatures of producer Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari and co producer Yash. It framed the moment as a landmark not just for the film, but for Indian storytelling itself. “When we set out to make Ramayana, our dream was always to take one of India’s greatest stories to the world,” the statement reads. It then adds, “Tomorrow, that dream takes another big step forward.”

Sony Pictures To Lead Ramayana’s Global Rollout

The statement makes Sony Pictures’ role unmistakably clear. “SONY PICTURES begins its international campaign for Ramayana, introducing this timeless story to audiences across the globe, many of whom will be discovering it for the very first time,” it says.

That wording signals a formal international rollout, reinforcing Sony Pictures’ already confirmed involvement in taking the film beyond India. The studio has been attached to the project’s overseas distribution, making this campaign launch an important move as the makers position Ramayana as a large scale global theatrical event rather than a conventional domestic release.

What gives the announcement added weight is its emotional framing. “For a film born in India to be presented to the world on the scale of a global cinematic event is something we as Indians are incredibly proud of,” the statement says. It closes with a line that underlines the cultural pitch behind the film’s campaign: “Our truth. Our history. FROM INDIA, TO THE WORLD.”

A Huge Global Bet On Nitesh Tiwari’s Epic

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is mounted as a two part feature film saga backed by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film has been positioned as a mythological epic with a major visual effects driven scale, and Sony Pictures has already been confirmed as its international distribution partner.

The project’s cast and scale have kept it firmly among the most watched Indian films in production. The makers have repeatedly presented it as an attempt to bring one of India’s most enduring civilizational stories to a worldwide audience through a mainstream event film format.

Yash’s Recent And Upcoming Work

For Yash, Ramayana arrives after a long gap following K.G.F: Chapter 2, which released in 2022 and became a blockbuster theatrical success. He has remained selective since then, with Ramayana emerging as one of his biggest confirmed upcoming films. He is attached to the project not only as part of the cast but also as a co producer through Monster Mind Creations.

Another major confirmed title in his lineup is Toxic, a gangster action film directed by Geetu Mohandas, which remains one of his most anticipated upcoming theatrical releases. With K.G.F: Chapter 2 still defining his recent screen phase, Ramayana now stands as the next major chapter in his pan Indian and international positioning.
