Box Office Worldwide has exclusively learned that Sunny Deol’s appearance in Ramayana Part 1 comes only towards the very end. The reveal is expected to land either in the final scene or as a post-credit style moment, positioning Hanuman’s arrival as the film’s last major dramatic beat.
A glimpse of that strategy had already surfaced earlier this year when select attendees at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas were shown footage from the film that included a brief look at Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The character’s continued absence from wider promotional material has only sharpened curiosity, and it now seems clear that the makers want that unveiling preserved for the biggest possible theatrical payoff.
What We Know About Ramayana So Far
That finale tactic fits the scale of the project itself. Ramayana Part 1 is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and DNEG in association with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film is being mounted for IMAX as the first chapter of a two-part live-action retelling of the Ramayana.
Ranbir Kapoor leads the cast as Rama, with Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The first film is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release, while Ramayana Part 2 is set to follow on Diwali 2027. The story of the opening chapter is expected to cover Rama’s journey through exile and the conflict that builds toward Sita’s abduction, laying the emotional and mythic foundation for the larger war to follow.
Sunny Deol’s Recent And Upcoming Work
Sunny Deol’s recent filmography reflects a phase driven by scale and theatrical pull. His major comeback arrived with Gadar 2 in 2023, and he followed it with Jaat in 2025. Earlier in 2026, he was seen in Border 2, extending that run of large-screen event films.
His next confirmed titles keep that momentum going. Batwara 1947, previously known as Lahore 1947 released in August 2026, while Jaat 2 is also part of his announced lineup.
