The wait for the next major look at Ramayana now has a date. Producer Namit Malhotra has confirmed that the film’s new glimpse, titled Rama, will be unveiled on April 2, aligning the launch with Hanuman Jayanti and framing it as a worldwide reveal for fans.
Malhotra shared the update on social media on Ram Navami, observed on March 27 this year, while reflecting on the emotional and creative responsibility behind adapting Ramayana for the big screen. In his note, he described the journey as one guided by devotion, care, and sincerity, before confirming that the makers are ready to present the next glimpse to audiences. He also called Ramayana “a story that belongs to all of us,” underlining the reverence with which the team is approaching the epic.
April 2 Reveal Becomes The Film’s Next Big Moment
The April 2 launch gives Ramayana its next decisive promotional beat after the strong attention generated by its first-look rollout. This time, the focus appears to be firmly on Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Ram, with the title Rama itself signaling a character-led reveal rather than a broad montage of the film’s world.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The two-part epic is being produced by Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, and is planned as a worldwide IMAX release. Part 1 is scheduled for Diwali 2026, while Part 2 is slated for Diwali 2027.
That makes the upcoming glimpse especially important. More than a festive date announcement, it is the first major step in showing how the makers want audiences to see Kapoor in one of Indian storytelling’s most iconic roles.
Why The Rama Reveal Marks A Defining Ranbir Kapoor Moment
For Kapoor, the Rama reveal arrives at a crucial point in his career. After Animal in 2023 expanded his mass-market pull and became one of the biggest titles in his filmography, Ramayana positions him in a radically different zone, one rooted in restraint, legacy, and cultural memory rather than brute intensity. That contrast is a large part of why the April 2 launch carries such weight.
His recent run has already shown unusual range. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar in 2023 reaffirmed his ease in mainstream romance-comedy, while Animal pushed him into darker, more volatile territory. Now, with Ramayana and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War among his major confirmed theatrical projects, Kapoor is moving through a phase where star power and image reinvention are working in tandem.
If Animal sharpened his commercial edge, Ramayana now has the chance to redefine his screen legacy. The Hanuman Jayanti reveal is not just another promotional drop, it is the moment that may shape how audiences receive his transformation into Ram for the first time.
