In Madhu Mantena’s epic rendition of Ramayana, Mahesh Babu and Hrithik Roshan have been asked to play the roles. We then learned that the Telugu actor would no longer be a part of it because he declined the invitation to make room for his ambitious SS Rajamouli production located in the African woods. The makers have begun approaching other actors to play Lord Ram after Mahesh Babu declined.

After Mahesh Babu declined, the makers began approaching other actors to play Lord Ram. Nitesh Tiwari has offered Ranbir Kapoor the three-part 3D epic Ramayana. The director has approached the actor to play Ram against Hrithik Roshan, who is set to play Ravana, the evil ruler of Lanka. Ranbir is rumoured to be considering the idea and has expressed interest.

“Nitesh Tiwari is looking for the best-in-class actor who can completely devote himself to the character of Ram, and he believes Ranbir Kapoor perfectly fits the bill as he has that charming presence Nitesh is specifically seeking for in an actor. Ranbir is thrilled about this offer and will take a call after the full narration. He hasn’t given his nod yet, however, it’s very likely that he would okay the project,” a source close to the development informed PeepingMoon.

Ramayana, which is backed by Madhu Mantena, Allu Aravind, and Namit Malhotra, is set to begin filming by the middle of next year. Nitesh Tiwari and Ravi Udyawar, as well as script writer Sridhar Raghavan, have been working hard to bring the Ramayana to life on a never-before-attempted scale, conducting significant study to create a setting that will make Indians proud of their epics.

Pre-production for the film has already begun and is in full flow. Over 200 artists from all over the world are claimed to have been working on various components of this live-action trilogy around the clock. Simultaneously, casting for the main characters is taking place. This year’s Diwali is expected to see the official announcement of the Ramayana!
