Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana is one of Bollywood’s most ambitious projects. Made on a massive budget with cutting-edge VFX, the film aims to set new standards for Indian cinema.
But the makers are thinking even bigger and want to take it to a global level like Oppenheimer and Forrest Gump.
Ramayana Producer On His Vision For Ranbir Kapoor Starrer
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Producer Namit Malhotra shared his vision for this two-part saga. He said Ramayana is more than just a mythological film as it has a universal appeal.
He pointed out that audiences in India enjoy Hollywood films like Oppenheimer and Forrest Gump because their stories connect with people everywhere.
The filmmaker believes Ramayana has the same potential to reach global audiences. He considers himself fortunate to be part of this project and hopes to do justice to it.
Producer Namit Malhotra Feels It’s A HUGE Responsibility To Make This Film
Malhotra has won seven Oscars for Best Visual Effects for films like Interstellar and Dune. With this experience, he understands what it takes to create a film with worldwide impact. He admitted that Ramayana has the potential to bring Indian cinema to the global stage, but the responsibility is huge.
The film follows past adaptations including Adipurush which struggled to impress audiences. Malhotra acknowledged this and said his team is being extra careful with the storytelling.
He explained that they are handling the project with great sensitivity because such an opportunity does not come often. He believes this is a defining moment for Indian cinema.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features a star-studded cast, including Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, and veteran actor Arun Govil. The film will be released in two parts, with the first set to hit cinemas on Diwali 2026 and the second in 2027.
