One of the biggest film events of 2026 has officially commenced production, and Love & War has already attracted some attention because of the intense preparation that its stars have committed to.
According to industry insiders, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal have made drastic physical transformations for their roles in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic war epic that has been highly anticipated by audiences.
“Ranbir Kapoor has lost 12 kgs while Vicky Kaushal has lost 15 kgs,” a source confirmed to us. “Both actors play military officers, and the physical transformation goes beyond being lean; these actors are embodying the discipline and intensity necessary for their roles.”
Love & War is set during wartime and revolves around two soldiers that find themselves at an emotional crossroads, both very much in love with the same woman. Alia Bhatt plays a glamorous cabaret dancer, and she is the axis around which this explosive love triangle spins. Bhansali’s story is based on passion, betrayal, patriotism, and impossible love and is bold in both scale and soul.
The most recent shoot schedule marked the first joint appearance of Ranbir, Vicky, and Alia, and insiders tell us the chemistry on set was electric. Bhansali is apparently working hard to make sure every frame reflects the emotional weight that his narratives are known for. There’s also Orry, who Bhansali has cast in a role, Alia’s close friend, that insiders are describing as groundbreaking, albeit important, as a supporting character.
This isn’t the first time Bhansali has made the actors present a complete transformation. Whether it was Ranveer Singh’s warrior intensity in Bajirao Mastani, willing to fulfil his dream of portraying a Maratha warrior, or Deepika Padukone keeping a deadly silence in Padmaavat, Bhansali’s characters always evolve as they physically and emotionally change. Here, in Love & War, he seems to be taking it a notch higher, creatively and commercially.
Love & War is scheduled theatrically for March 2026 and is being marketed as a blockbuster romance fuelled by love and carved by duty (to the nation) and sacrifice. After a return to scale after Heeramandi made news, the buzz is only getting louder with every update.
BoxOfficeWorldwide Verdict:
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War is evolving into more than simply a film — it is taking shape as a cinematic statement. With Ranbir and Vicky’s transformations and Alia’s electrifying presence, this emotionally alive triangle against the pandemonium of war will become the defining Bollywood release in 2026.
