Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji, who recently garnered praise for her role in “Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway,” is already looking forward to her next project. Mukerji has expressed her interest in reprising her role as the tough cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in the Mardaani franchise. The actress hopes that the writers develop the script for the third instalment soon.
“I hope the writers develop the sequel fast. I’ve had many people asking me when Mardaani 3 will come. But I have always maintained that a film is driven by a script. If the script is not exciting, there is no point [making a franchise],” she stated as per Mid-day.
In an interview, Mukerji stated that a film’s success depends on its script. She believes that there is no point in making a franchise if the script is not exciting. Mukerji led the first Mardaani film in 2014, which was followed by a sequel in 2019. Both films were highly successful at the box office.
While Mukerji hopes for a quick development of the Mardaani 3 script, she is pleased with the audience’s response to “Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.” The film, directed by Ashima Chibber, portrays the story of Sagarika Chakraborty’s long battle against Norwegian authorities for custody of her children. Mukerji stated that the film holds a special place in her heart, and she felt strongly connected to her character, Debika.
After a 27-year career in the film industry, Mukerji says that she is drawn towards brave and inspiring stories. The actress believes that she needs to feel a connection with the character and celebrate their determination and perseverance. She believes that playing a role that requires bravery and the ability to stick by one’s beliefs is the kind of role she would like to do.
Fans of Mukerji can look forward to her reprising the role of Shivani Shivaji Roy in the third instalment of the Mardaani franchise. Until then, audiences can enjoy her exceptional performance in “Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.”
