Rani Mukerji is set to return as the fierce cop in Mardaani 3. The third film in the crime thriller series is expected to start filming by June this year.
Yash Raj Films (YRF) has already begun pre-production, refining the script and finalising shooting locations. However, they are still searching for a powerful antagonist to challenge Mukerji’s character.
Mardaani 3 Makers On The Hunt For A Strong Villain
According to Mid-Day, the makers are holding auditions to cast the villain. They are looking for a fresh face who can bring intensity to the role. Look tests for key characters are also in progress as the team prepares for the action-packed film.
The production team has chosen Mumbai and Delhi as primary shooting locations. They are also scouting additional locations in North India to enhance the film’s setting. The team is making sure all details are in place before filming begins.
Rani Mukerji Announced The Film Last Year
Rani Mukerji announced Mardaani 3 in 2024 and shared her excitement for the project. She said, “When we set out to make Mardaani 3, we were hoping that we find a script that would take the experience of watching a Mardaani franchise film higher. I am really excited about what we have at hand and I’m only hoping that the audience too feels the same after watching Mardaani 3 in theatres!”
Mukerji also spoke about the expectations from the franchise. “Mardaani is an extremely loved franchise, and we have a certain responsibility to deliver to the expectations that people have. We will do our best to live up to this. Mardaani 3 is dark, deadly and brutal. So, I’m intrigued to find out the response of the people towards our film. I hope they shower this film with the same amount of love that they have always given.”
The film will be directed by Abhiraj Minawala, who has been associated with YRF for years. He has worked on films like Band Baaja Baaraat, Gunday, Sultan, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, and Tiger 3. He is currently the Associate Director of War 2 and has now been given the responsibility of directing Mardaani 3.
