A few months ago, HanuMan director Prasanth Varma mentioned in an interview that he would be collaborating with a Bollywood superstar.
Speculations soon followed that Varma was casting for the sequel film Jai Hanuman. However, these rumours were unfounded. Media reports suggested that Prasanth Varma would direct a film featuring Ranveer Singh as part of his superhero universe.
The film, reportedly titled Rakshas, had even received a nod from Ranveer Singh, and a puja ceremony was held in Hyderabad.
Ranveer Singh Left Rakshas After Shooting Promo; Makers Face Rs 25 Cr Loss
An announcement promo was shot, but then news broke that Ranveer had exited the project, citing a desire to spend more time with his family.
According to a report from Bollywood Hungama, Ranveer’s departure resulted in a significant loss of Rs 25 crore for the producers.
Mythri Movie Makers, the production company behind Pushpa, was set to produce Rakshas. According to reports, the promo was shot over two days before Ranveer decided to leave the film.
A source revealed that the producers were displeased with how the situation unfolded. “The Mythri people are not happy with this. Firstly, Ranveer leaked the news of leaving the film to the media before telling the producers. When Ranveer finally told them, they were very angry. They called Ranveer unprofessional and also expressed their displeasure.”
It was further revealed that Ranveer himself had approached Prasanth Varma with the desire to collaborate. When a producer was needed, Ranveer convinced Mythri Movie Makers to come on board.
The production company had invested Rs 25 crore in the pre-production of Rakshas, with Rs 10 crore spent on shooting the announcement videos. This effort and expenditure now appear wasted, as the videos will not be released.
Ranveer Singh’s Exit Was Earlier Reported Due To Creative Differences
In an earlier report by Pinkvilla, it was mentioned that Ranveer left the film due to creative differences with Prasanth Varma. “In April, Ranveer came to Hyderabad for the photo shoot for the film announcement. All the plans were ready but now there is no official announcement. Ranveer is no longer a part of Prashant Verma’s film Rakshas. Ranveer and Prashant parted ways due to creative differences. Both of them also considered different solutions, but now both have gone their separate ways with the promise of working together in the future.”

Currently, Ranveer Singh has Singham Again, Shaktimaan and Don 3. Recently, he met with Mukesh Khanna, sparking speculation that an official announcement about his casting in Shaktimaan might be forthcoming.
Fans are eagerly waiting to see what projects Ranveer will take on next, despite the setback with Rakshas.
