The wait on 83 is finally over. Filmmaker Kabir Khan’s much-awaited cricket drama 83, starring Ranveer Singh, is set to arrive in theatres this Christmas. The development comes a day after the Maharashtra government allowed reopening of cinema halls from October 22.
Sharing a still from the film, Ranveer Singh wrote, “It’s time……….. 🏏🏆 83 IN CINEMAS THIS CHRISTMAS. Releasing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. #ThisIs83.
The film 83 depicts India’s victory in the 1983 Cricket World Cup under Kapil Dev’s captaincy when the team defeated West Indies in the final to claim their first-ever World Cup trophy.
This big-budget film, also starring Hardy Sandhu, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiva, Ammy Virk, Saqib Saleem, Pankaj Tripathi and Deepika Padukone, was one of the first projects which was pushed from its original April 2020 release due to COVID-19 epidemic.The makers had announced a fresh date of June 4, 2021, which was again pushed due to the second wave of the pandemic.
The film will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The film is produced by Khan, Madhu Mantena, Vishnu Induri and presented by Reliance Entertainment.
