In the 1990s, Raveena Tandon was very popular for her glamor and perfection. Even after a prominent actor from the present generation (Katrina Kaif) remade her famous song “Tip Tip Barsa Paani,” the majority of internet users believed that the ’90s star’s oomph factor couldn’t be equaled.
Raveena Tandon discussed a variety of subjects, including body shaming and harmful gossip publications that can damage someone’s career. When asked about gossip publications from the past, Raveena answered bluntly, “Gossip publications from the 1990s were the worst. And some of those ladies—who were the fiercest enemies of women, body-shamed women, slut-shamed women, and would do anything to pull another woman down—I now see walking about with the women’s lib insignia over their heads and hearts. I wonder when it changed because they are the greatest feminists around now. If I begin to tell tales about them…”

Even today, Raveena Tandon is praised for her attractiveness and physical grace. The average person doesn’t think she’s ever been body shamed in the industry. The ‘Daman’ actor remarked to Smita Prakash during a recent conversation, “I was called a lot of things. 90s ke kholo, TTs, thunder thighs…miss this and miss that…” The actor continued, “I was plump actually. Started at 16 and a half years, and I was full of baby fat yaar… which still hasn’t gone. Though I don’t care now, I am being like that, I am like that, too bad!”
Raveena Tandon came to the conclusion that the ‘viciousness’ of journalism in the 1990s was horrible and she was utterly disappointed, that is the reason why she chose to take a vacation.

Raveena stated, “I remember some of these titles. And not only me, but some other heroines are also called that. Besides that, instead of supporting women, what they did was…firstly all these women editors would fall in love with the heroes. And what the heroes said were the last words. If he wanted to pan a woman, the woman would be panned, shamed, literally, her career ruined in the magazines with nasty articles being put out about her. There were so many untrue articles put out because some hero went and said, “Acha, uske bare me aab aisa likh do…(Okay, let’s write about her like this)” and it would be the last word. And if there would be an apology, that would be on the last line of some other issues of the magazine, it would be written ‘the story carried earlier ultimately proved not to be true’. And who will read that then? At that time the screaming headlines already made the news, right?”
