Is Bollywood gearing up for not just one, but three zombie action films? Well, it’s being said that Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh, and Kartik Aaryan are all working on their own zombie films, which could lead to an unexpected industry face-off.
While Bollywood has explored horror-comedy before, full-fledged zombie action is still new. Now, these stars are aiming to bring the undead to the big screen in a grand way.
Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh And Kartik Aaryan Develop Their Independent Zombie Films
According to a Peeping Moon report, Hrithik has made the biggest move so far. He has bought the rights to remake Will Smith’s 2007 blockbuster I Am Legend for Rs 12 crore. The film will be produced under his banner, and Kill director Nikhil Bhat is reportedly in talks to direct it.
However, Hrithik is also committed to Krrish 4, so the zombie film’s production might get delayed if the superhero sequel moves ahead this year.
Ranveer Singh is also entering the zombie genre. He is developing a zombie-action film under his upcoming production company. He is also working on a mythological action drama with Uri: The Surgical Strike director Aditya Dhar. There are limited details about his zombie project, but sources hint it could bring a fresh twist to the genre.
Kartik is not far behind. He has pitched a large-scale zombie film to T-Series head Bhushan Kumar. If approved, it could be a turning point for Kartik, who is mainly known for rom-coms and light-hearted films. The project is still in the discussion stage.
Trio On A ‘Silent War’ Mode?
Industry insiders call this a “silent war” between the three actors, each wanting to be the first to deliver Bollywood’s biggest zombie film. Interestingly, all three are managed by the same talent agency, Collective Artists Network. This has sparked speculation that the rivalry may have started due to industry buzz. “Once word got out that one of them was working on a zombie film, the others followed suit,” a trade source revealed. “It’s not just a battle of creativity but also a strategic move by their management teams.”
Zombie films are popular in Hollywood, but they are challenging to make. They require strong storytelling, high-quality VFX, and a team willing to take a financial risk on a genre that is new to Indian audiences. “Not everyone can pull off a zombie movie,” said an industry expert. “It’s ambitious, expensive, and requires a bold vision.”
Right now, all three stars are busy with other projects. Hrithik is shooting War 2, where he will go up against Jr. NTR. Ranveer is working on Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller Dhurandhar. Kartik is handling multiple films, including Anurag Basu’s romantic drama with Sreeleela and Pati Patni Aur Woh 2.
Coming back to the zombie film, it would be interesting to see who will bring it to life first.
