Rishab Shetty has joined the chorus of praise for Ramayana: Part 1, reacting to the trailer with a heartfelt note that singled out Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama and Yash’s commanding presence as Ravana. As conversation around Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological spectacle continues to build, Shetty’s response has added another high-profile endorsement to the film’s early momentum.
What gave his post an added emotional charge was the way he framed the challenge of recreating an epic that lives so vividly in public memory. Instead of limiting his praise to scale or visual grandeur, Shetty focused on the responsibility of portraying characters that generations have grown up revering.
A Powerful Stamp Of Approval For Ramayana
Sharing his thoughts on X, Shetty first applauded the makers for translating a deeply familiar epic into a convincing cinematic world. He wrote, “It’s not easy to convince people with the stories and characters of our epics. We have all grown up listening to them, and each of us carries our own imagination of these timeless legends. Hats off to the team for creating such an incredibly convincing world. @niteshtiwari22 @malhotra_namit, take a bow (sic).”
He then turned to the weight actors carry while stepping into such iconic parts, adding, “I can relate to the pressure an actor feels while portraying such iconic characters. Every single actor has embraced that responsibility and delivered a brilliant performance. @raviedubey @Sai_Pallavi92 @Rakulpreet…@arrahman @HansZimmer, every emotion has been beautifully underlined by your music. What a phenomenal score (sic).”

Shetty saved his most effusive praise for Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, writing, “#RanbirKapoor, brother, you made us truly feel the aura and divinity of Rama. @TheNameIsYash sir, my eyes grew bigger and bigger with every shot of yours. I don’t think anyone else could have done justice to that character. I am running short of words to tell more about your brilliant performance but one thing, as a kannadiga you have always made us feel proud (sic).”
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part 1 brings together a star cast led by Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey. Produced by Namit Malhotra, the film draws from Valmiki’s Ramayana and Goswami Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas, and is slated for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release. Notably, Sunny Deol, who is playing Hanuman, does not appear in the trailer, with several character reveals still being held back.
Rishab Shetty’s Recent And Upcoming Work
For Shetty, this reaction also arrives at an interesting point in his own creative journey. He remains closely identified with Kantara, the 2022 breakout success that cemented him as one of Kannada cinema’s most distinctive voices, both as actor and filmmaker. His next major screen outing is Kantara: Chapter 1, the much-awaited prequel to that phenomenon, while his larger slate also reflects an expanding ambition that stretches into historical and big-canvas storytelling. That makes his enthusiastic response to Ramayana: Part 1 feel especially in step with the kind of rooted yet visually ambitious cinema he has increasingly come to represent.
