Fans of Rohit Shetty will have to wait a little longer to watch his much-awaited OTT debut series, Indian Police Force, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty and Vivek Oberoi. The action-packed series, which was supposed to release on Diwali 2023, has been pushed back by the makers due to the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023.
Rohit Shetty and Prime Video to delay Indian Police Force web series
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Rohit Shetty and Amazon Prime Video have taken a strategic decision to delay the series from the Diwali weekend. The reason behind this move is that the makers did not want to compete with the cricket fever that has gripped the nation.
“While the series is ready for its launch, Rohit Shetty and team Amazon Prime have taken a strategic move to delay the series from the Diwali weekend. It’s a decision taken in the best interest of the series, as the makers didn’t want to clash with the on-going cricket World Cup. The digital conversations around the Diwali period will revolve around two things – Cricket World Cup and Tiger 3 – and Amazon is clear on not being the third choice of audience,” a source told.
The source also revealed that the new release date of Indian Police Force will be announced soon, most likely by the end of this week. The series is expected to be a big hit among the fans of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, which includes films like Singham, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi. The series will also mark the OTT debut of Rohit Shetty as a director.
Indian Police Force is a nine-part series that will showcase the adventures of a team of elite cops who fight against crime and corruption in India. The series is created and directed by Rohit Shetty and Sushwanth Prakash, and produced by Rohit Shetty Picturez and Reliance Entertainment. The series was announced with a teaser video featuring Sidharth Malhotra as the leader of the Indian Police Force.
