Saif Ali Khan is gearing up to make a powerful return to one of Bollywood’s most successful franchises. According to recent reports, the Race franchise is set to roll out its fourth instalment, and this time, the original star Saif Ali Khan is back in the driver’s seat.
The Race series, known for its high-octane action and intricate plots, initially starred Saif in the first two films. However, in Race 3, the spotlight shifted to Salman Khan.
Now, the buzz is that Saif is ready to reclaim his role, much to the excitement of his fans. Sources have revealed that the actor has been in discussions with producer Ramesh Taurani for quite some time. After several conversations, it seems the two have finally agreed to move forward with Race 4.
Saif Ali Khan Set To Return In Race 4
A source close to the project shared some details about the upcoming film with Pinkvilla. “The actor has agreed in principle and is excited to get into the world of Race again. Ramesh Taurani is aiming to take the film on floors in the first quarter of 2025,” the insider revealed.
This means that fans won’t have to wait too long to see Saif back in action in one of his most iconic roles.
Currently, the screenplay is in development, with the basic plot already locked in. The film is expected to bring together a star-studded ensemble cast, and casting is already underway. The makers are keen on rebooting the series with a fresh perspective, which includes bringing a new and credible director on board.
Conversations are reportedly ongoing with several established filmmakers who could helm the project. There’s even a chance that Race 4 might be titled Race Reboot to reflect the fresh direction the franchise is taking.
“Race is a dear franchise, and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to bring it back to the audience with the OG, Saif Ali Khan in the lead,” the source added. This suggests that the franchise will stay true to its original style but will add fresh elements to keep the audience engaged.

The Race franchise first hit the screens in 2008, featuring a star-studded cast that included Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu, and Anil Kapoor. The film was a massive hit, and its success led to the release of Race 2 in 2013, with Saif reprising his role alongside new additions like Deepika Padukone and Jacqueline Fernandez. However, the third instalment took a different direction with Salman Khan leading the charge, directed by Remo D’Souza.
Apart from his return to Race, he’s also preparing for another exciting project. The actor will soon start filming for Priyadarshan’s next thriller, where he’ll face off against Bobby Deol, who is set to play the antagonist.
