Sakshi Tanwar Joins Yash As Raavan’s Wife, Mandodari, In Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi

In a significant casting update, actress Sakshi Tanwar is set to portray Mandodari, the wife of Ravan, in the upcoming mythological epic Ramayana. Helmed by director Nitesh Tiwari, the film promises to be a grand retelling of the ancient saga.

Sakshi Tanwar finalised as Raavan’s wife in Ramayana

Tanwar, renowned for her powerful performances in television and cinema, will share the screen with the celebrated actor Yash, who has been roped in to play the formidable king Ravan.

Revealing the same, a source told Filmi Beat, “Nitesh Tiwari already has a perfect cast in place for Ramayana, and Sakshi Tanwar is finalized as Ravan’s wife Mandodari. She has been attending script reading sessions with the team and is looking forward to sharing the screen space with KGF star Yash.”

Lara Dutta to play Kaikeyi and Rakul Preet Singh to play Shurpanakha

The source added, “Not just her, even Lara Dutta and Rakul Preet Singh were a part of reading sessions.” For those not in the know, it’s been speculated that Lara Dutta and Rakul Preet Singh will be taking on the critical characters of Kaikeyi and Shurpanakha, respectively. It has been verified by the source that both actresses are confirmed to be a part of Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation of Ramayana.

The film’s ensemble cast also includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, with reports suggesting a star-studded lineup for other pivotal roles. Amidst high anticipation, Ramayana is poised to be a cinematic marvel, weaving together the threads of timeless storytelling with contemporary filmmaking finesse.

Ramayana to go on floors next year

Earlier reports suggested that the production of Ramayana would kick off around March or April of this year. The latest updates suggest that the team is set to begin shooting at the beginning of next year. The source has also corroborated these murmurs, stating that the film’s shooting is indeed slated for “next year.”
